About Himalayan Impact Trust

Himalayan Impact Trust is a grassroots, community-driven NGO based in Uttarakhand, led by an all-women board of trustees. Our mission is to create real, measurable impact in the Himalayan region through focused efforts in environmental sustainability and social development. We work closely with local communities, schools, and the forest department to drive change from the ground up.

Our Managing Trustee, Shruti Tewari, brings over two decades of rich experience across human resources, development work, and entrepreneurship. Her vision blends professional expertise with a deep commitment to environmental action and social equity—shaping the Trust’s purpose-driven approach. She has successfully led grassroots projects in areas like afforestation, plastic upcycling, and student outreach, and has built meaningful partnerships with schools, corporates, and government institutions.

We are proud to have a team of passionate individuals from diverse fields—business, medicine, education, social work—working together to address the unique challenges of the Himalayan region. Our work spans across Almora, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts, with upcoming initiatives reaching deeper into underserved communities.

Our focus areas include:

  • Environmental Sustainability: Tree plantation and protection drives, groundwater recharge, and waste management campaigns

  • Education & Skill Development: Career guidance workshops, scholarship programs, and student engagement in under-resourced schools

We believe in honest, inclusive, and participatory work that grows through collaboration with like-minded people and organizations. Together, we strive to build a more sustainable, equitable, and thriving future for the Himalayas—one tree, one student, one village at a time.
